Congratulations to Justin Cash for winning Canton’s first amateur comedy competition. Justin challenged 10 other amateur comics to squeak out a victory over some great competitors. Keep track of Justin in the coming years as he continues to make a name for himself in the Ohio scene. On top of winning $100. Justin will get a spot at the next major CCS event.
Congrats also to the runner-ups who put up some really great performances: Erin Apostilides, Ben Palmer, Shawn Boyd, Shane Herman, Matt Karp, Eric Talbert, Denver Collins, and several others.
Thanks to Mike Conley and Katrina Brown for their judging and excellent insight for the comics. And thanks a ton to The Pub for hosting this first time event.
Stay tuned for details on the next amateur competition coming in 2011.
September/October – The Canton Comedy Series is planning on hosting 2 showcases of Northeast Ohio’s best comedic talent. This will be a show featuring 8-10 of the up and coming comics, and veterans of the Ohio comedy scene. This is NO open mic or amateur show. These comics will be working out new material or honing their existing material. Either way, it will be a great way to see some of Ohio’s best comics in ways you’ve never seen before. More info on location, dates, and times coming up.
November 26th - ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW! PLAYERS GUILD! WE’VE GOT THE MAKINGS FOR AN AMAZING SHOW. SO FAR WE’VE GOT RYAN DALTON AND MIKE LUKAS HEADLINING, AND WE’RE WORKING HARD AT FILLING OUT THE REST OF THE LINEUP. THIS WILL NOT BE YOUR TYPICAL STAND UP SHOW. WE PLAN ON HAVING VIDEO, SPECIAL GUESTS, AND A WORLD FAMOUS SKETCH COMEDY GROUP JOIN THE FUN. WE NEED OUR FRIENDS AND FANS AND THEIR FRIENDS AND FANS TO GIVE US ALL THE SUPPORT WE CAN FOR THIS HUGE NIGHT. THIS EVENT WILL ALSO INCLUDE A CHARITY AND FUNDRAISER! CCS LOVES TO HELP OUT THE COMMUNITY.
2011 – Our first year has shaped up better than we could have ever hoped. We started out small, and have worked our way through some of Canton’s best venues, and even onto the stage at The Palace with a national headliner. We will close out the year right, with a show at The Players Guild. In 2011, we hope to continue those great shows with the best OH headliners at the best Canton venues about once every 2-3 months. Then we’d like to sprinkle in 2-3 major shows at the big venues with national headliners, and finally, we’ll continue with showcases and amateur contests, and other special events. Keep checking our site or fanpage on Facebook for more updates, and keep supporting live comedy in Canton!
Our good friend and frequent headliner has expressed some of his views on Lebron’s move to Miami. You may agree.
Mike is “very confident” he will be able to perform at our 1 year anniversary show on November 26th, so be sure to be there.
